The Portage County Ice Wars are in the books!  Team AJ has good weekend in Amherst at the first cup race of three for 2012.  AJ continued to have strong finishes in Stock Kitty Cat, Stock 120, Super Stock 120 and winning again in Vintage Kitty Cat.  Team AJ also had a special driver this weekend racing our champ 120 sled for the first time this season.  Jacob Ricci 8X drove the Team AJ/Polaris to victory in the Champ 120 final.  This weekend their was 48 drivers competeing in 23 classes which made for great competition and even greater racing.  The Portage County Ice War did a great job making sure we had enough ice for the weekend.  A special “Thanks” goes out to the entire Portage County Ice Wars volunteers for continuing to put on a great show.  For the complete 2012 Portage County Ice Wars race results please see the results page for the details.

01/08/12 - AJ does a autograph session at local Amherst School.

On Friday, January 6th, AJ made a stop at the Tomorrow River School District to sign autographs for the K-12 school kids.  Along with AJ was champ drivers Malcom Chartier, Nick VanStrydonk, and Outlaw 600 driver and former Nascar driver Rich Bickle.  they all signed autographs for over an hour and close to 300 autographs.  AJ said “it was cool getting to meet the kids from Amherst and answering questions about the race in their hometown”.

01/02/12 - Gleason Weekends Race Results

Well the first two race events/weekend in Gleason, WI are in the books.  AJ raced a total of 17 classes over the weekend making all 17 finals she attempted and logging over 100 laps of racing.  On Saturday, “AJ” competed in 8 classes making the finals in all 8.  She was fortunate enough to come home with 3 final wins (Stock Kitty Cat / Vintage Kitty Cat / Stock 120) and with a total of 5 podiums for the day.  Also on Saturday AJ competed in Sprint 120 and Champ 120 for the first time in her career.  Sunday AJ got to the track with the thoughts she would be in only 7 classes.  But as they day progressed she found herself in a “personal best” 9 classes.  The results from Sunday were not much different from Saturday!  She again came home with 3 final wins again in  (Stock Kitty Cat / Vintage Kitty Cat / Stock 120) with a total of 4 podium finishes and again competing in Sprint 120, Champ 120 and another new class 120 Improved Lemans.  AJ wants to “Thank” the team that helped out over the weekend at the track (Pat Strachota, Alex VanNatta and Garret Strachota).  She also wants to  “Thank” the guys back at the shop (Tim Yarie and Greg Oelke) for helping get the 2011/12 season off in the right direction.  Lastly, AJ want to give a big “Thanks” to Uncle Scott for the help and for being a EMT this weekend at the races for both WKSRA and WKCR.

The “Lap of Strength” was a big sucess on both Saturday-WKCR and Sunday-WKSRA.  AJ had the priviledge to lead the field of over a dozen sleds both days in a special parade lap to honor fellow ice oval snowmobile racer Curtis Boivin #19b.  AJ said “It feels really good to help raise money for Curtis and his famiy.”

AJ’s week continues to be busy for her!  On Wednesday she is celebrating her 7th birthday with friends and family.  Then Thursday its back to work as she has a test plan for her champ 120 and Sprint 120 in a continued effort for some more seat time. Friday we will be heading to Amherst for the Portage County Ice Wars.

12/29/11 - Gleason – Lap of Strength / Curtis Boivin 19b

This weekend Alishya “AJ” Kreager is proud to be a part of this weekends Lap of Strength to honor one of ice ovals fellow racers.  As some of you are all aware of Pro Champ driver Curtis Boivin #19B entered the CPTC finals in Beausejour, Manitoba on December 4th just like every other race, focused and determined. He left the race unlike any other he had ever entered and now his fellow racers are pulling together to support all of his recovery efforts.

After a very scary accident, Curtis was airlifted to a Winnipeg hospital where he remains in critical care with head injuries. His condition is slowly improving but it will take years of help to bring Curtis all the way back.

Curtis’s good buddy and fellow Champ racer Nick Van Strydonk knew he wanted to help. Nick went to work designing a special #19B decal that would be sold as a fundraiser with all of the proceeds going to the Boivin family. Nick’s plan has grown into the “Lap of Strength” scheduled to kick off the opening of the Ironwood Pro Vintage Snowmobile Olympus. So with that being said a few of us have came up with our plan on doing the same this weekend in Gleason on both Saturday and Sunday. What the plan is that any team the buys the $5 sticker and displays it on their sled will be allowed on the race track for the national anthem/parade lap in a way to pay tribute to one of our ice racers. For those of you who still need the 19B stickers, Team AJ 86 will have them available Friday afternoon and throughout the entire weekend at the track in our race trailer.

12/27/11 - Team AJ is ready for the 2011/12 Season Opener – Gleason’s Double Header!

Team Aj is ready and waiting for this seasons ice oval kickoff.  The team has continued to spend countless hours making sure everything is perfect for this weekends double header.  The team has gotten out to test a few times to make the necessary changes to help make AJ more comfortable on a couple of new sleds for a few new classes this season.  The schedule this year has already been changed due to the unseasonable weather we are all experiencing.  Team AJ originally planned to be racing in Markesan, WI on Saturday, but lucky for the team they have chosen to move the races a lot closer to the race shop.  The officials from WKCR with the help of the “Gleason Community Club” have decided to move the event to Gleason, WI.  What makes this so nice is…..it’s also the race venue for WKSRA on Sunday January 1st.

Team AJ wants to extend a hugh “Thanks” to this years 2011/12 Ice Oval Sponsors:

11/29/11 - 11/29/2011 – 2011/12 Ice Oval Season Is Already Here For Team AJ

Well even though Team AJ has not compete in any race events for a month.  That doesn’s mean Team AJ has taken any break!  The entire Team AJ crew has been working feverishly for the past month working on getting all 9 of “AJ’s” 2011/12 Ice Oval sleds ready.  This year Team AJ is not only bringing  the same team back again, they also have added another two new crew guy to help with the additional sleds.  Currently the team is assembling her 9 sleds for 11 different classes giving AJ the seat time she is excited for.  As the team continues to work, all they ask for now, is some cold weather to make the much needed ice for them  to see if all the hard work has paid off.  Not only is just the team busy, AJ is staying busy as well.  This week she will be in the “Wausau Area Holiday Parade” on the WKSRA parade float.  In addition to that, she has also been asked again this year to help with a public service announcement that will be views throughout the entire snowmobile season on Charter television promoting snowmobile safety and awareness.  Stay tuned to view her commercial here on www.teamaj86.com.
